NOM addresses “trolls” on its Facebook page; conveniently ignores hate speech posts

Finally. For the first in over 4 years, National Organization for Marriage decided to finally address their Facebook page. We’ve seen some pretty nasty comments on there — after all, an organization is made possible by their supporters. However, today, NOM posted a “PSA” for their supporters — “ignore the trolls, report them, etc.” Silly.

What NOM does not address
• NOM’s supporters who post hate speech (even those who do it very frequently) are never banned
• Those who post views or engage in a debate with a dissenting/pro-gay marriage view have been banned
• Those who point out the hate speech posted by NOM supporters have been banned
• NOM’s supporters create duplicate profiles or go under fake names
• NOM is falling and can’t get up — so finally after 4 years, they have time to address their Facebook page

Let’s point out some examples. These individuals featured below have not been banned by NOM. Many post on a daily basis to NOM’s Facebook page. Why aren’t these individuals banned?

This flyer was circulated at the March for Marriage last year. It highlighted NOM’s most anti-gay supporters (most posts weren’t even about marriage). It was also sent to the Lee Boys, the band that NOM had selected to perform at the March for Marriage. The Lee Boys promptly cancelled on NOM.

So, NOM, you really want to address your Facebook page? Maybe it begins with your supporters, not the “trolls.” A “troll” to NOM is anyone who disagrees and posts their viewpoint to the Facebook page, even when they post in a civil manner.

Peter Kobylarz, NOM Supporter’s Hate Speech Rant

Peter Kobylarz continues to post on National Organization for Marriage’s Facebook page while others are banned for posting a dissenting opinion. Peter is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, NJ. From the looks of profile, he looks pretty religious. Hmmmmm.

For someone who doesn’t care about a gay male’s sex life – again, not a peep on gay females’ sex lives – he not only seems awfully clued up on the matter, as well as obsessed to the point of always talking about it. We suspect he’s so deep in the closet his best friends are Mr. Tumnus and the Beavers…

Oh, and this guy had something to say:

And guess who liked his post? Jennifer Wade-Abbott and Laurie Snyder. Surprised?

A simple lesson for NOM supporters.

Dear Karen, Jennifer and Gordon,

Excuse me for noticing the extreme amount of butthurt you seem to be experiencing over our recent blog posts that mention yourselves. We found it truly stunning that you are happy to accuse us of bullying for publicising your bullying. As highlighted here;

NOManiacs 180113b

Can we just clarify something in extreme detail, seeing as you don’t seem to comprehend the purpose of this blog?

Our mission statement is clear. We exist to highlight the anti-gay hatred displayed by the National Organization for Marriage, and that of their followers. Such speech is directly taken from the NOM Facebook page, which is a public social networking site. Any comments made therein are henceforth public.

Please don’t act so offended as if we’ve done something wrong. We haven’t. We are simply bringing to further public attention your obvious dislike and denigration of the LGBT community. You have chosen to share your personal anti-gay, homophobic hate speech with approximately 27,000 plus people on the NOM Facebook page. Why you are so aggrieved that we are sharing it with people who don’t share your viewpoint?

As far as we can tell, you were hoping to say such hateful things about homosexuals in a private capacity. You are obviously concerned about your homophobic comments being noticed by friends and family who may be gay. To that, we say the following.

Tough shit. You chose to share such personal feelings in a public forum. You knew full well the meaning and implications of your words. That is your prerogative. If you don’t want people you know to see your hidden personal feelings about them, then might we suggest you don’t actually make themDitto for liking posts. If you like hate speech, you obviously agree with the content.

Feel free to report us. We find the hypocrisy of you loudly trumpeting free speech when posting homophobic messages on Facebook while demanding everyone report us for passing on said ‘free speech’ truly hilarious. It also highlights your obvious cowardice and unwillingness to stand by what you said. In whining in such an obvious manner, you further undermine your own cause.

You got caught. Get over it. Stop posting hate-speech or learn to live with the consequences. Just so you know, we haven’t been asked to remove anything by WordPress. They obviously disagree with you.

You’re dismissed.

NOM Supporter Jennifer Wade-Abbott Posts Hate Speech On NOM’s Page

We’ve been following Jennifer Wade-Abbott for quite a while now on National Organization for Marriage Facebook page. While so many marriage equality supporters post to engage in civil debate and get banned, people like Jennifer get a free pass from getting banned. In fact, she has taken up residence to the point that she is competing with the other resident homophobic NOM supporters who can somehow change the subject of marriage into a discussion of anal sex, the anus and feces. And it doesn’t stop there. Because they don’t like to challenged on their homophobic posts, they attack anyone who stands up to them.

While many people may think people like Jennifer do not belong on Facebook, we would like to point out that people like her and so many of NOM’s supporters do in fact work in favor of marriage equality. Anyone can see that not only is she on the wrong side of history, she is proving to be quite a liability for NOM, an organization that is already girding its loins after the recent wins in Maine, Maryland, Washington State and Minnesota.

Yeah, that’s a valid excuse for posting hate speech. Not.

This is how we know we’re winning. Oh boy, Prieboy.

In recent days there has been an incredible amount of debate on the National Organization for Marriage facebook page. Religious arguments, predictably, from NOM supporters. Legal arguments, obviously, from marriage equality supporters.

Then Jennifer Mary Ashley Prieboy, of Joliet, IL, logged on. The comments below may appear faded – these comments have been recently reported to Facebook and have been reopened to take screenshots. But look who else posted…Jeffrey Paul Bonderman (http://www.primerica.com/public/PrimericaRep?rep=jeffbonderman). Financial advice anyone? Ruff. Ruff. Actually, avoid his services if you happen to be an LGBT American.

Other NOM supporters did not dispute Jennifer Mary Ashley Prieboy’s homophobic comments.

Perhaps if you weren’t saying them in the first place, we wouldn’t be hitting back. Have you tried stopping shouting abusive names rather than telling us to put up with your abuse? Might actually work. Give it a try.

She got some “likes” on these “fag” posts:
